Commencement Information

Graduation is confirmation you have met all degree requirements. Commencement is an annual ceremony for students who have or are expected to graduate in the current or next semester.

What do I need to do to graduate? Isn’t it automatic?

Students must apply using the to graduate in MyHCC Self-Service upon nearing graduation. Students who do not apply for graduation but will have completed all degree requirements may still have their graduation processed and diploma mailed using the information in the HCC database.

Please Note: Diplomas returned to HCC as non-delivered will require pick-up or student payment for re-shipping. HCC will store the diploma for a limited time after the student has graduated. After that point, a Duplicate Diploma Request Form must be completed for a replacement diploma to be issued. Please see the replacement diploma question for more information on completing the form.

Is there a fee for graduation?

No, there is no fee or cost to graduate.

Is there a Commencement Ceremony each term?

HCC has only one graduation ceremony (commencement) which takes place on the first Friday in May. Graduates and candidates who graduate during any term in the academic year (September through August) should consider participating.

Where do I go to purchase a cap and gown?

Collegiate Academy students can purchase all graduation attire except for Collegiate Academy Stoles. Those interested in purchasing a stole should communicate with their high school lead for more information.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are printed and mailed approximately eight to twelve weeks after a student has been graduated. It is the responsibility of the student to have a correct permanent address on file. Updates can be made at: graduation@hccfl.edu.

In addition, graduates should be on the lookout for an email from Parchment with information on their digital diploma. This service will give you permanent online access to a secure copy of your digital diploma. You can view, download, or share online and via social networks.

If I lost my diploma or HCC did not have my current address, can I order a replacement diploma?

Yes! Please use your HCC login to complete our online Duplicate Diploma Request form. If you do not have an HCC login, please complete our paper Duplicate Diploma Request and email it to graduation@hccfl.edu for processing.

How will I receive graduation or commencement notices or information?

All commencement information is posted on the HCC website by the beginning of April. Graduation notifications will be sent to the student via Hawkmail.

How do I prove I have a degree?

An official transcript with the student's degree credential is the only legal document. The diploma is a wall display for decorative or ceremonial purposes.
